Kit review: Outdoor Research Ferrosi Trousers

Reviewed by Steph

A decent pair of walking trousers is one of those bucket list items for many plus size people. A lot of the plus size options have been graded up with no consideration of how bodies change with size, suffering from low rise and gaping waists.

As someone who avoided trousers in favour of leggings for years, finding a decent pair of trousers now is a wonderful discovery. And these aren’t just decent: they’re brilliant.

Firstly these @outdoorresearch trousers incredibly lightweight - so much so that you almost forget they’re there - no digging in, no bunching, no constantly having to hoik them up. This is also partly due to how incredibly stretchy they are, meaning stiles and big steps are easy, and they’re just bloody comfortable.

For me, they’re a spring to autumn trouser (which is what they’re sold as) - they’re pretty thin and breathable which is ideal for warmer months, which is great for someone who struggles with overheating in the summer, all with the added benefit of water and wind resistance.

These should also fit a range of body shapes - the stretch to the fabric and the addition of the drawstring waist means you can stretch them over larger hips but still cinch in for a smaller waist.

The icing on the cake is good deep main pockets, a zippable thigh pocket and two back pockets (one open, one zipped).

I’m a 50.5 inch hip and 41 inch waist, wearing a 22W (I was given these to review in the autumn when my measurements were different) and while these fit fine still, I would probably size down to a 20W if I were to buy them now

RRP £100
